Laura Cooperman – founder and educational consultant

About Laura

Laura loves working with teenagers. Her favorite part of college consulting is sharing the “a-ha” moments with her students as they explore who they are, imagine who they might become, and discover their story. As a former corporate recruiter for Korn/Ferry International and Coach, Inc., Laura brings her corporate recruiting skills of candidate presentation and “fit” assessment to her practice. She creates a comfortable and supportive environment, works with each student to uncover their unique voice and point of view, and customizes her approach to meet the individual needs of each student.

Laura earned an M.S. in School Counseling from Mercy College, a B.A. in History from UCLA, has completed the Professional Certificate program for Independent Educational Consulting from the University of California, Irvine and has taken coaching courses from the ADD Coach Academy. Laura is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), and the American Counseling Association (ACA).

Philanthropy is an important aspect of Laura’s practice. She volunteers with non-profit agencies providing pro-bono college advising to socio-economically disadvantaged high school students, with a particular focus on essay writing and determining school-affordability. She has led numerous workshops including: writing the personal statement, financial aid, college readiness, college support services for students with learning differences and transitioning to college. Laura was one of a small number of professionals selected as a writing coach for College Summit, a national non-profit organization that assists low-income high school students with their college applications.
